What It Is
This liner brush is handmade with genuine weasel hair set into a natural bamboo handle, built for the precise, unbroken lines that thangka painting and fine line art demand. The tip is drawn to a needle-sharp point that holds its shape stroke after stroke, and comes in two sizes — Large and Small — so you can match the brush to the scale of the detail you're working on. Each brush is finished by hand, keeping the bristles aligned and springy rather than machine-flattened.
What It's For
Made for outlining and fine detail work: thangka painting line art, Gongbi (工笔) brushwork, Chinese and Tibetan calligraphy, mandala and pattern detailing, miniature and model painting, and any illustration work that calls for a hairline-thin, controlled stroke. The weasel hair tip holds ink or pigment well and releases it evenly, so fine lines stay smooth and continuous rather than skipping or blotting.
Care & Maintenance
Before first use, soak the tip in clean water for 3–5 minutes, then gently work the bristles apart with your fingertips, stroking along the direction of the hair — never against it. Always wet the brush before dipping it into ink or paint; using it dry can bend or fray the tip. After each use, rinse the tip gently and dry it thoroughly before putting the brush away. The handle is made from natural bamboo, so avoid soaking it for long periods or leaving it under direct sunlight for extended time — bamboo absorbs moisture easily and can warp or crack from prolonged dampness or sun exposure.
